This study enhances cloud database technologies for cyber-physical systems and IoT applications, addressing four key challenges: memory constraints, environmental impact, query performance, and serverless resource management. We introduce REMON, a network-based solution extending server memory capacity, and Krysha, a framework optimizing serverless microservices. Our research also includes an environmental impact assessment of analytical databases and explores hardware-conscious query tuning. Through extensive experiments, we demonstrate significant improvements in efficiency, scalability, and sustainability of cloud database systems. These advancements offer valuable solutions for managing large-scale data in complex digital ecosystems, with implications for both performance optimization and environmental considerations in cloud computing.
